I am a self-taught artist, born 1945 in the UK to a family of merchant seamen and stevedores ("wharfies") and for the first 29 years of my life I grew up with the sights and sounds of Southampton docks; the atmosphere of life on the docks will never cease to fascinate me and continues to influence my art. I migrated from the UK to Australia in 1974.
Between 1981 and 1996 I worked in the animation industry for Yoram Gross, Hanna Barbera, API, Burbank Unlimited Energy, Energy Entertainment and ABC Kids, with a few other jobs in between.
During the early 1980's I painted the Shoalhaven extensively and again in the middle 1990's while living at Huskisson. Some of my works are on show at the Nexus Modern Art Gallery, South Melbourne and others in private collections in Sydney, Brisbane, Newcastle, Adelaide, Melbourne, Southampton and London.
Over the years I've had exhibitions in the UK and Australia. I have been selected as a finalist in the following major competitions:
2007 Archibald entry selected for showing in the Hidden Faces of the Archibald, Victorian Salon de Refuses exhibition at the Crown Towers, Southbank, 23rd May to 1st July.
